- A coconut-derived preservative booster that works at neutral pH, used where a formula would otherwise need phenoxyethanol. Usually paired with glyceryl caprylate. Useful precisely where sodium benzoate isn't. It doesn't need an acidic formula. Often paired with glyceryl caprylate, and that combination is one of the better paraben-free, phenoxyethanol-free preservative systems available.
