Why this exists
I was sixteen, and the answer was a prescription.
I danced. That meant stage makeup most days, layered over whatever cleanser was cheapest, taken off with whatever was in the dressing room.
My skin was a mess, so at sixteen I was put on birth control for it. It worked. My skin cleared and nobody mentioned it again.
Not one person asked what I was putting on my face. Not the doctor, not anyone. The products were never part of the conversation, the symptom was, and the symptom had a prescription.
I stayed on it for years. It wasn't until I stopped, in my thirties, trying to get pregnant, that the skin I'd had at sixteen came straight back. It had never been dealt with. It had been covered.
That's when I started reading. Not skincare at first, everything. And I was appalled by what was sitting in my own bathroom.
I wanted different for my daughter, my nieces, their friends, and every teen, so I built the line I couldn't find.
