Citric Acid

AllowedReviewed September 18, 2026

Citric Acid

A pH adjuster, present in tiny amounts in almost everything.

What it does
Stabilisers & pH
Our take
Not an exfoliating acid at the levels you'll find it, it's there to bring a formula to skin pH. The "mold-derived citric acid" concern circulating online confuses fermentation with contamination; they aren't the same thing.
