Mica

AllowedReviewed September 18, 2026

Mica · CI 77019 · Synthetic Fluorphlogopite

A mineral that gives shimmer and helps colour spread evenly.

Our take
Chemically unproblematic. The real issue with mica is sourcing, child labour in Indian and Madagascan mines is well documented, so what matters is where a brand gets it. Synthetic fluorphlogopite is lab-grown mica: it sidesteps the sourcing question entirely and, despite the name, contains no carbon-fluorine bonds and is not a PFAS.
